Most organizations have formed their policies, practices and strategies based on what their staff and leadership have known to be familiar to them. In other words, we establish schedules, documentation, performance expectations, client services based on our everyday experience – often as members of the dominant American culture. But what may seem familiar and normal to some, may be unfamiliar and alienating to persons of different backgrounds. This workshop will explore how organizations can apply principles of cultural empathy to develop more culturally responsive and inclusive programs and organizations.
